Most Arts festivals I’ve been to or heard of have only lasted a weekend. I’m excited to find out Pawtucket is hosting a month-long arts festival with events happening all around the city. If you can travel to Providence you can definitely go the extra exit on 95 and check out Pawtucket. Running through the month of September, the Pawtucket Arts Festival collaborates with local and international producing partners to present dance, music, theatre, film, visual, and folk-traditional arts that evoke the City’s historic legacy and diverse communities. What I love about these types of events are that a lot of them are family friendly. You can bring your kids and there’ll be a table set up for activities and crafts related to the event, so they won’t be bored the whole time.
So we may have already missed a few awesome things like the Dragon Boat race, Fall Festival, and a free performance by the Aurea ensemble, but there’s still more to come. There are plenty of art exhibitions, there’s a drumming workshop, a stroll of the Baldwin Loop, and the Exchange Street Open Studios to name a few things. I am really loving the booming arts community around here.
